ASUS HyperExpress Soon To Make Its Debut
This year has really brought a lot surprises to the solid state drive industry. Just as we thought that things could not get more interesting one more major player in the IT industry joined the SSD bandwagon. ASUS (ASUSTeK Inc.), one of the largest motherboard manufacturers, will be launching their own SSD in cooperation with Kingston (Kingston Technology Corporation). Dubbed as the HyperExpress, this drive will utilize the SATA Express interface which will be available on next gen ASUS motherboards.
The HyperExpress prototype is basically a 2.5” form factor enclosure containing 2 mSATA drives on RAID 0. Initial reports say that sequential read speeds for this drive runs up to 745 MB/s which is quite impressive but we’d have to wait until this drive goes out in to the market so we can do the testing ourselves. The HyperExpress SSD will surely make an impact on the market, but how big? Only time will tell.
