Kingston Unveils Cheaper HyperX 3K SSD

Gamers on a budget have something to look out for with the release of Kingston’s HyperX SSD. The SandForce SF-2281 powered drive has a price tag ranging from $139.99 to $699.99 with the option for 90, 120, 240 and 480 GB capacities.

As a SATA 6 Gb/s drive, the Kingston HyperX 3K can reach a maximum sequential read and write speeds of 555 MB/s and 510 MB/s respectively while random read and write IOPS are listed as 85,000 and 74,000. As with most SandForce SSD’s, the HyperX 3K will come with DuraClass for endurance and lifespan improvements.

Other features include SMART, TRIM and Garbage Collection support. MTBF is 1 million hours and power consumption is at 0.5 W idle and 1.58 W active (reading). Users can choose between an upgrade kit and a standalone package. The kit is priced $10 more than a standalone drive purchase.
